Artist Statement
The land of my past, present, and future inspires my art. Growing up on a small ranch I was able to explore the desert terrain of New Mexico. My artwork reflects the land of my home. My abstract landscape paintings are simple shapes and lines with realistic native wildlife and plants. I approach painting from a drawing foundation. An improvise coloring book on canvas or a rough under painting as my starting line. The animals and plants are the main focal points. The details of the plants and animals are there to balance out the colorful abstract backgrounds. I use bold bright colors to help simplify the painting. Each single paint stroke slowly turns into an image. I paint over paint until I am satisfied. This feeling of satisfaction usually tell me when I’m finished or if I should continue. As a young artist I’m still exploring my form of aesthetic designs and creative ideas.
